Basic information
Rhenium powder is a dark gray powder with a hexagonal metallic structure. It remains stable in air below 1000 ℃, begins to oxidize above 300 ℃, and forms volatile rhenium heptaoxide on the surface above 560 ℃. Soluble in nitric acid and concentrated sulfuric acid, insoluble in hydrochloric acid and hydrofluoric acid.
